afirma que la tasa real de reciclado es sólo del 36%, casi la mitad de las
cifras oficiales.
Eunomia basó sus cálculos en la cantidad de botellas de plástico recogidas a través de los contenedores amarillos y el circuito exterior de los hogares. Según sus estimaciones, en 2023 se recogieron unas 47.000 toneladas a través de los contenedores amarillos y 18.000 toneladas a través del circuito fuera de los hogares. Además, Eunomia calcula que en 2023 se habrán puesto en circulación 178.000 toneladas de botellas de plástico, una cifra significativamente superior a las cifras oficiales de Ecoembes, que las estiman en 154.000 toneladas.
Esta discrepancia entre las cifras oficiales y las estimaciones de Eunomia sugiere que una cantidad significativa de botellas de plástico puede no ser declarada o reciclada.

Less plastic is recycled in Spain than officially reported
Here, in Spain, plastic bottle recycling is an important part of efforts to create a sustainable and circular economy. While there are official figures on the recycling rate, there are also contradictory data that cast doubt on the actual performance in this area.
In Spain, according to official figures from Ecoembes (in Spanish), 71% of plastic bottles sold each year are recycled. This percentage meets the legal requirements for the year 2023.
